How to Prevent a Cracked Screen on Your Phone

You’re walking to your car when your phone slips out of your pocket. To your horror, it lands right on the asphalt.

When you pick up your phone, the entire screen is shattered. You knew you shouldn’t have put off buying a case and screen protector.

Both should pretty much be day one purchases when you get a new device. You should also consider picking up a pop socket.

These are only a few ways that you can prevent a cracked screen. Check out this guide for a whole list of ways that you can protect your smartphone.

Use a Case

The number one way to protect a mobile phone is to buy a case. Cases can absorb some of the shock that occurs when you drop your device.

We will warn you that not any old case will do. You get what you pay for, meaning a five-dollar case from the dollar store isn’t going to do you much good.

Opt for a bumper case with a hard exterior and rubber interior. Wallet cases aren’t a bad idea either. The top will flip over the top of your phone and protect the screen.

If you’re having some trouble finding a good one, check out these cases.

Buy a Screen Protector

After you buy a case, pick up a screen protector. It’s a tempered glass sheet that goes over the top of your phone screen.

When you drop your phone, it will break before your screen does. Some brands have a lifetime warranty.

You can cash it in when you break the protector and get another one for free (plus shipping of course).

PopSockets are circular disks that attach to your phone using a long flexible base. They’re fun to play with, and they provide a little extra grip while you’re holding your device.

Since you’ll be dropping your phone less often, your chances of having a cracked screen will go down.

Watch Where You Put Your Cell Phone

When not in use, most people store their cell phones in their pockets. Whether you know it or not, that’s not the best place to keep it.

If your pocket is loose, it will be easy for your device to slip out of it and land on the concrete. Invest in a belt clip.

Keep Your Phone Clean

Dirt and grime are guilty of scratching up a phone screen. The good news is that keeping your device clean isn’t too hard.

Remove your case and go over the screen with a disinfectant wipe. Dry it off with a cloth.

Don’t Cry Over a Cracked Screen

Your phone is too expensive of an investment for you not to protect it. If you don’t put a case or screen protector on your device, it will lead to a cracked screen.

If you don’t have insurance on the phone, you’ll pay hundreds of dollars to fix it at a repair shop. Don’t let that happen to you!
