Broad spectrum lights produce a lot of light waves that plants cannot use effectively. LED grow lights only transmit light colors that are used by plants for efficient and healthy growth.
LED grow lights are warm to the touch and do not burn young or delicate plants, unlike indirect lighting. The heat generated by a typical high-pressure metal halide or sodium lamp can range from a few hundred degrees to over 14 hundred degrees Fahrenheit on the surface of the bulb. This excess radiant heat significantly increases the temperature in the grow room. Most LED grow lights operate at just a few degrees above room temperature, which reduces the cost of cooling the grow room.
You won’t need to water as often if you use LEDs, as your plants will glow less. If for some reason you need to leave the grow room unattended for a few days, your plants will have a better chance of surviving if the grow light don’t produce much heat that dries them out.
LED grow lights are ideal for plants and ferns that require high humidity. Cuttings are also easy to root as they do not suffer as much from water loss during the formation of new roots.
